On occasion we are asked to install laminate or engineered “Floating Flooring”. The story is this, we take great pride in all our work and the materials we choose and recommend. While we may be experts in the flooring field we don’t profess to be Maritime Engineers or Ornithologists so we leave this floating idea to boats and ducks, if you want a floating floor we aren’t the people to call. However if you want your floating floor removed and replaced with a solid timber floor, this is something we do on a fairly regular basis for those that weren’t happy with their first choice.
We do install direct stick engineered flooring either direct to sub floor or over acoustic matting. There are situations where direct stick engineered flooring such as solid engineered European Oak is desirable. As with all manufactured products, engineered flooring ranges from the good to the bad and the downright ugly in relation to quality. Some are solid oak throughout while some are constructed on base of cheap pine plywood. The downside to all this is that they are all glued together, research all products thoroughly and question sales pitches. The only way you get a “Real Timber” floor is to use real solid timber.
